Another week and another match under our belts. Let’s take a look at the Premier league this weekend.

English Premier League

15:00 – Crystal Palace v Fulham – 1.91 Crystal Palace

• London Derby. I tend to leave these derbies alone.
• Win, Loss, Draw, Win, Loss….? for Palace so far. Wins v Sheffield United and Wolves. Palace have scored more than 2 goals in only 1 match, that 3-2 win v Wolves. Palace’s only clean sheet came 1st match of the season.
• Eduoard is the key goalscorer for Palace .
• Win, Loss, Draw, Loss, Win for Fulham. Win, Draw, Loss away  – the loss v Man City, the draw v Arsenal. Not a shock really.
• Fulham wins were 1-0 v Everton and Fulham, that’s hardly earth shattering form.  Like Palace, Fulham have scored 2 goals only once.
• Angles? I don’t like London derbies. They can be unreadable. Further, both teams have trouble scoring 2 goals. Watch out for Eduoard for Palace, he keeps scoring. Other than that, the form for both sides is poor.

15:00 – Luton v Wolves – 2.10 Wolves

• Luton 4/4 losses for the newly promoted side but an interesting market giving Luton a chance. Why? 4 losses and a win for Wolves. New manager for Wolves Gary O’Neil could instigate some change. Wolves were certainly very impressive in the first half v Liverpool and just need to replicate that for 90 minutes.
• Luton kept their first 0-0 at halftime in the last match.This is their 2nd home match after a 1-2 loss v West Ham.
• Goals are the problem for Luton. 1-0-1-0 goals scored.
• Angles? 2.10 the favourite is giving Luton a chance. We saw similar with Nottingham Forest v Burnley ( that ended 1-1 as Burnley were given a chance by the market). When will Luton get their first win? New Wolves manager does skew the form a little. Are Luton layable if leading? Where’s that 2^nd goal?

15:00 – Man City v Nottingham Forest – 1.14 Man City

• 5/5 wins for Man City, scoring 3-1-2-5-3 goals. 3+ goals in 3 matches and a 3-1 win, at shorter odds, v Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League mid week suggests that Man City can score the expected 3 goals at least today.  Haaland has scored 7 goals. Rodri has caught the eye with his ability to score as well.
• Both teams have scored in City’s last 3 matches.  City matches have seen only 1 0-0 at halftime.
• Notts Forest lost 2-1 away at Arsenal, 3-2 v Man Utd and 0-1 win v Chelsea. Nottingham Forest could score today. Awoniyi has scored in 2 away matches but failed to score in 2 consecutive matches. He rarely goes long without a goal.
• Man City conceded first v Red Star Belgrade and scored 3 2nd half goals.
• We should expect 3 goals at least of Man City and the possibility of a goal before halftime.  If the scoreline is 0-0 at 20 minutes, you may want to back 1-0, 2-0 any unquoted in the halftime score market. Forest may score but without winning.

17:30  – Brentford v Everton – 1.75 Brentford

• Draw, Win, Draw, Draw, Loss for Brentford. 3 consecutive home score draws so the score draw cannot be discounted. The 1-0 loss v Newcastle was care of a penalty. Brentford look in good order. That Newcastle loss was the only match without a 0-0 at halftime.
• Loss, Loss, Loss, Draw, Loss for Everton and it’s not as if Everton are meeting the top 5 teams early on in the season.
• Everton have failed to score in 4/5 matches.  They scored 2 goals against Sheffield United and still lost.
• There is obviously a goal shortage for Everton but a slow return of some first teamers such as Calvert-Lewin may improve Everton. Everton look naturally opposable if leading . Trouble scoring should equal trouble scoring 2 consecutive goals?  I would lay any late score draw in the hope that this Brentford sequence ends soon.

20:00 – Burnley v Man Utd – 1.70 Man Utd

• 3 consecutive defeats at home for Burnley ended with a 1-1 draw away at Nottingham Forest.  No 0-0 at halftime.
• Win, Loss, Win, Loss, Loss for Man Utd. 2 consecutive away losses for Man Utd came v Tottenham and Arsenal  . 2 consecutive 3-1 defeats too. Teams have scored 2-2-3-3 goals against Man Utd last 4 matches.
• Man Utd are post-Champions League and need to get a result. They did score 2 goals against Bayern Munich mid week. They might get away with it against Burnley . Teams beating Man Utd include probable top 10 teams Arsenal, Tottenham and Brighton. Burnley conceded 3-3-5 goals at home and that is their Achilles Heel even against a confidence-poor Man Utd side. At their best, Man Utd can score 2/3 goals today. Hojland might be a good anytime goalscorer for Man Utd.

English Premier League – Sunday

14:00 – Arsenal v Tottenham – 1.67 Arsenal

• No apologies for bowing out of this one. A London derby. I hope you have seen the unpredictability of derbies so far this season. Add in the new manager factor for Tottenham and post-Champions League status for Arsenal, and this match becomes very tough to call. Sit back and enjoy! The market is emphatic though, 1.67 favourite Arsenal.  The odds look too short. I would lay any Arsenal lead, particularly if a one-goal lead come the 70^th minute.

14:00 – Brighton v Bournemouth – 1.33 Brighton

• 4 wins and a 1-3 loss v West Ham for Brighton.  4-4-1-3-3 goals scored. Wins were either 3-1 or 4-1 for Brighton. All scorelines this season have been either 3-1 or 4-1.
• With goals expected, it is not a surprise to see Brighton have no 0-0’s at halftime.
• 75%+ of Brighton home goals came 2nd half.
• Draw, Loss, Loss, Draw , Draw for Bournemouth.3-1 loss v Liverpool and 2-2 v Brentford away from home for Bournemouth. Concerning that they have conceded 5 goals already particularly as post-Europa League Brighton have 3 goals at least in them!
• Bournemouth could be on the end of a hiding today, but could score. Brighton may eye 3 goals again and we could see a goal at least before halftime. If a quiet first half, expect 2nd half goals. Brighton did score 2 goals against AEK Athens in the Europa League.

14:00 – Chelsea v Aston Villa – 1.83 Chelsea

• Chelsea are in poor form. Their sole win against newly promoted Luton and failure to score in their last 2 matches is concerning.
• 1-1 v Liverpool, 3-0 v Luton and 0-1 defeat v Nottingham Forest at home for Chelsea.
• Aston Villa either win big or they lose big. 5-1 away loss v Newcastle, 4-0 home win v Everton, 1-3 win away v Burnley, 3-0 loss v Liverpool and 3-1 home win v Crystal Palace.
• If Chelsea continue to falter infront of goal, Aston Villa could score 2+ goals today. Their wins though came against the likes of early strugglers Everton and Burnley.
• Chelsea do not look value for their odds on quote.

14:00 – Liverpool v West Ham – 1.40 Liverpool

• A draw and 4 wins for Liverpool. Both teams scored in 4/5 matches. No 0-0 at halftime. 3 goals scored in 3/4 matches.  Conceded first in 3/4 matches without losing.
• Liverpool scored 3 goals in both home matches.
• A draw, 3 wins and a loss for West Ham. The loss came against Man City.
• Both teams have scored in West Ham’s last 4 matches
• A draw and 2 wins away for West Ham.
• Angles? This could be a tough match for Liverpool but they may eventually get their noses in front. Both teams to score is a ready angle. Liverpool have a habit of coming from behind and did so again in the Europa League mid-week. Any need to desert from that today if West Ham score first? Over 2.5 goals and the winner possibly scoring 2/3 goals. Goals before halftime are the norm with this small sample.

16:30 – Sheffield Utd v Newcastle – 1.40 Newcastle

• All defeats bar a 2-2 v Everton for Sheffield United. They have scored and conceded last 4 matches with the 3 defeats 2-1 only.
• Win, Loss, Loss, Loss, Win for Newcastle but losses v Man City, Liverpool and Brighton were not necessarily surprising. What would surprise me would be Newcastle failing to win against a newly promoted side. If none the worse for their trip fo AC Milan mid week, Newcastle should look at scoring 2 goals at least. Sheffield United do have a reputation for keeping it tight defensively so Newcastle may have to be patient.

Conclusions

Post-European club competition may see fatigued performances . There are 2 London Derby matches.

Luton are given a chance by the market makers. Will they draw/win against Newly Managed Wolves? Sides like Newcastle and Man Utd are in poor form, but play newly promoted sides today – are these newly promoted sides going to give these 2 teams a chance at returning to winning ways?
