A long list of Europa League and Europa Conference League matches today which I will not recount here. My time is better spent researching the elite league weekend matches. There are likely to be trades today but we should ideally maintain a focus on matches with ‘need’. There are excellent write-ups at both www.uk.soccerway.com and www.soccer24.com But it really boils down to permutations.

With that in mind, please read the excellent europa conference league permutations article here at https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaconferenceleague/news/0287-198ee58f4c4e-b04b0648df77-1000–europa-conference-league-group-stage-permutations-who-s-th/

These are the most basic permutations. The article goes far more indepth .

Group winners: PAOK, Viktoria Plze?

Confirmed in top two and can win group: Aston Villa, Bodø/Glimt, Club Brugge, Fiorentina, Gent, LOSC Lille, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Slovan Bratislava

Group runners-up: Frankfurt

Can finish in top two on Matchday 6: Astana, AZ Alkmaar, Ballkani, Dinamo Zagreb, Fenerbahçe*, Ferencváros*, Genk, Legia*, Ludogorets*, Nordsjælland*

*can still finish first

Cannot finish in top two: Aberdeen, Be?ikta?, Breidablik, ?ukari?ki, HJK Helsinki, KÍ Klaksvík, Lugano, Olimpija Ljubljana, Spartak Trnava, Zorya Luhansk, Zrinjski

With the above in mind, maintain a focus on on matches where teams are confirmed top 2 and can win the group ( although for me the safety net of already being qualified takes the gloss off any ‘must win’ status.

The teams who ‘can finish in top 2 on Matchday 6 are also to be shortlisted. Use www.soccer24.com and just star the games with ‘need’, I will show you how in the Review/Preview

As to the Europa League, the only permutations article I could find was here https://supersport.com/rugby/general/news/c60d7df2-0399-4442-b3aa-cf070f144c33/europa-league-permutations-who-can-qualify-

I am not sure how much credence we place in this, considering it is filed under ‘rugby’.

Here are the permutations according to supersport.

Confirmed in top two: Atalanta, Leverkusen

Cannot finish in top two: Häcken, Raków, Sheriff, TSC Ba?ka Topola

Can be confirmed in top two on Matchday 5: Brighton, Freiburg, Liverpool*, Marseille*, Molde, Qaraba?, Rangers, Real Betis*, Rennes, Roma, Slavia Praha, Sporting CP, Toulouse, Villarreal, West Ham

*Can be confirmed as group winners on Matchday 5, as can Atalanta and Leverkusen

Can be out of top-two contention on Matchday 5: AEK Athens, Ajax**, Aris Limassol**, LASK**, Maccabi Haifa, Molde, Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, Qaraba?, Servette, Sparta Praha, Sturm Graz, Union SG

**Can be confirmed in fourth place on Matchday 5, as can Häcken, Raków, Sheriff and TSC Ba?ka Topola

https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/standings/ provides the groups as they are. The teams in the list ‘ Can be confirmed in top two on Matchday 5’ I would shortlist .

Group C is typical of a group I would focus on.9-8-7-4 points for the 4 teams. All really bar Aris on 4 points can contend for a top 2 berth ( Betis, Rangers, Sparta Prague).

in Group E, I would look to Toulouse and Union St Gilloise as the 2 teams vying for 2nd.

In Group H, Qarabag and Molde are the 2 to focus on.

It is a simple job tonight of making sure you prioritise matches with ‘need’, I will be on hand. Thursdays have been profitable in these competitions.
