Welcome to the first Football Trading Profits Weekly eletter where we’ll be discussing all things football……and tennis.
Hi, I’m Clive Keeling, and I’m a Football Trader ( this feels like an A.A. meeting!) For those new to trading as it pertains to sport, my definition of trading is simply
‘The Anticipation Of a Future Odds Movement’
How does this differ from traditional bet and go punting? As a trader, we do not necessarily care about the Final Result. We are trying to anticipate an event which will move the odds. Brainstorm now for me. Can you think of any ‘events’ in a football match, which could possibly impact an in-play betting market?
I came up with some examples:
?Red cards. One player has been sent off. It’s 11 players v 10 players. The 11 players could take advantage and score. We can profit from this!
?The underdog scores first. This is the staple diet of a football ‘trader’. Just because the underdog has scored first , it does not mean that the underdog will win the match. If we can anticipate an equaliser for the favourite, we can profit!
?A shock lead. If a team is leading 0-2 or 0-3 early in a match, and was not expected to, we can profit from this.
There are many other , what I term, Trading Angles, that we can exploit and make money from.
Here’s a Shock Lead, from yesterday! Drogheda have taken a 0-2 lead at halftime. This is a great time to trade. We anticipate that Waterford, the home team will a) remember that they are favourite b) remember that they are playing at home c) have half time in order to change tactics and go out and score infront of home supporters.
We can ‘lay’ Drogheda’ ( which means back Drogheda not to win) and back Waterford 2 goals down at very high odds.
Stick Mr. Amond on your Christmas Card List. You have just backed a 2.20 decimal odds favourite at about 15/1 and won!! Lock in profit at either 2-2 or if Waterford make it 3-2. Locking in profit before the match has finished is also another advantage of trading. You don’t have to wait until the end of the match to make a guaranteed profit.
Get it right, and you can make these guaranteed profits when you want to. Fenerbahce win? We win. Fatih win? We Win. The Draw? We Win!
That’s the essence of trading.
